Eternal Love of Dream Hits 5 Billion Views 40 Days from Its Premiere

Despite having started off on the wrong foot last January when it premiered to mixed reviews, Eternal Love of Dream, the latest offering from the Three Lives Three Worlds franchise seems to be doing pretty well for itself. When the series first aired, there’s no denying that the show had the high expectations from its predecessor’s success firmly weighing on its shoulders. That, plus some viewer’s dissatisfaction with stars Dilraba Dilmurat and Vengo Gao’s acting as well as the script written by the writers spelled a not so auspicious beginning for the drama.

But things are slowly but surely looking up now that it just got handed a reason to celebrate – exceeding 5 billion views on the online platform Tencent as of March 1st. In fact, it has also managed to keep its feet firmly planted within the top 10 in the web rankings since its premiere. Not a too shabby development eh? The drama also gained a firm footing in the Asian market when it scored a first in the online view rankings for Thailand, with clicks also exceeding a million for its first few episodes in Vietnam. Granted, while that's still a little off the magic number of 10 billion views, 5 billion is still nothing to scoff at!

Now that Feng Jiu and Dong Hua are at a stage where they're both getting pretty loved up , I imagine this could possibly work wonders on the drama's numbers. Anyway, the series still has a ways to go before reaching the finale so there's every possibility that they might even smash the 10 billion mark by the time it wraps up!

  2. I feel the more complicated they try to make the Alanre dream is the less interesting it is. While that dream actually feels like the main thing? What was even the point of their first mortal arc? That was so many episodes. FJ does not even miss or care about that mortal DHDJ. If she's going to treat it as nothing happen, why bother to make that arc so long.

There isn't anything good airing atm so this drama being top drama is well deserved this year.

    1. Of course she will not miss the mortal Donghua Dijun because as Siming previously said Song Xuanren's isn't Donghua himself. Also Shen Ye and Aranya is from Fengjiu and Donghua's shadow *spoiler alert*. They more connected together than the mortal arc.

    2. Exactly why I think they trying to overcomplicate things is such a joke. I find it ridiculous how lots of these things require special explanations. Can't the drama just explain things nicely itself?

If DHDJ needs to suffer to gain back his position but SXR isn't him, how does that make him deserve his place back? Bai Qian suffers in the mortal realm herself, to gain her power. Would this different logic make sense or fair? It's more like SXR is DHDJ but he just won't recollect those lost memories.

After all SXR is still a person who loved FJ, it felt like it was a waste of journey because FJ doesn't really care what happened. She only wants to revive QT because of guilt and responsibility but feels nothing for him and they're not even that great of friends.

If SY is DHDJ shadow, he is count as DHDJ. How come SXR is not considered a shadow as well? I think it was intended to be interesting by making lots of these unexplainable things explainable but to me it's just messy.

    1. It's true that part of attention this drama got when it first launched came from its predecessor Eternal Love. But these viewers ratings the drama is achieving lately has nothing to do with Eternal Love at all. It's quite the opposite actually. Eternal Love of Dream lost viewers because of Eternal Love in the first few weeks because EL fans couldn't accept the characters changes of Dong Hua and Fengjiu. Even though their characteristics in ELOD was the correct ones based on the books. Anyway, in my honest opinion, Eternal Love might have give career boosts for Dilraba and Vengo but they did nothing but screwed Dong Hua and Fengjiu's characters. They made the most Ancient God who doesn't give a f about anything into someone who can't even go against the fate. Don't even start with Fengjiu character in there. I'm a hardcore Fengjiu fan when I read the books but I cringed and wanted to punch something/someone every time they made her cling onto Dong Hua in Eternal Love. So, it's entirely not true if you are trying to say ELOD's current achievement comes from EL.

    2. 4a you are absolutely right. If anything Eternal Love made the ratings of ELOD suffer a lot. People kept leaving bad reviews and comparing it with EL and could not understand that this is NOT a sequel of EL. The ratings went finally up once the mortal arc was over and we started getting more sweet Dongfeng moments. Their achievements therefore are due to their own hard work and it's not very nice of you(@4) to just disregard all of that with just 1 sentence.

    3. Yes and no. Part of the reason why the drama was so hyped was because EL was a huge success and people loved Feng Jiu and Dong Hua in it. But then some original viewers of EL didn't like ELOD.

  5. Yay! It's really something to celebrate. This drama is one of the most faithful adaptions I have ever come across. They followed the parts we love while reading the book pretty much closely and all we can do is squeal and falling so hard for them. Reba and Vengo's acting have improved greatly in this drama. They delivered their lines and characters impactfully which made everything much more intense in the Aranya's dream Arc. Nothing is really more exciting and make one happier than when you see the characters you love dearly from reading a book came to life on screen. CGI in this drama is so gorgeous too. You can see they put a lot of efforts in it. Fighting scenes are well choreographed too and the BGMs are on point too.
It's really one of the best drama for me. I wish nothing but more success and recognitions for the whole team of Eternal Love of Dream. They really deserve all the love they are receiving.

  6. I agree with the other comment about the mortal arc. It really dragged down the drama in the beginning. They also didn't put enough focus on her friendship with Qingti, which was the whole point of even showing the mortal arc because of the effect it has on Feng Jiu in the series. BUT ever since the mortal arc ended I've really been loving the series. Not quite as much as Ten Miles, but it's still a great sequel imo.

  10. Congratulations to the whole ELoD team. This is the fruit of hard works. I'm going to miss the shameless Dijun and his easily bullied but so adorable wife little fox. I'll be looking forward to see their next projects. Jiayou!

  11. Congratulationz! I bet the number of views could even be bigger if they could have actively promoted the drama in public events but they can't due to the corona virus. I hope the world beats this virus soon and may all the sick get well soon.

  14. I haven't watched Eternal Love the first drama, but Eternal Love of Dream is one of the best Chinese dramas in my opinion. Love Vengo Gao and Reba. If you watch the "Candle in the Tomb Wrath of Time", Vengo's acting skill was superb. I was in awe.. I am his biggest fan now! :)
