Goodbye My Princess May Get A Second Ending

Goodbye My Princess cdrama Chen Xingxu
Good news for Goodbye My Princess 东宫 viewers. Youku is in talk with producers about making a second ending for the series.  An alternate ending, so to speak.  The reason behind is mainly due to the fact that a lot of people have already read the novel and know how the drama will end.  They say, "The direction of the story determines the final fate of the protagonist.  We also hope to give the viewers more choices."

On a personal note, I think it's nice of Youku to consider the feelings of the audience as some people might want a happy ending for Goodbye My Princess.  However, I do feel that they should stick to the original ending and be faithful to the novel.  But at the end of the day, it all boils down to personal preference.  How do you guys feel about Goodbye My Princess potentially getting a second ending?

    1. I second this! I prefer to stick to the novel's ending, but I wouldn't mind seeing a second happier ending as long as its logical. Otherwise, it would be out of place, but even if it was, I'd still watch it. LOL!

  2. I haven't read the novel (where can I find it?) and haven't started watching it (it's on my "to-watch" list). I had no idea what the ending is in the novel or what it's supposed to be in the drama. How would they show an alternate ending? Of course I'd prefer happy, who wouldn't, but it's usually more important to have an ending go to its logical conclusion. One person who reviews Chinese dramas said when the protagonist's love is pure for her he gets to go back and be with her in the end.

  3. I second that for HE. But don't kill shifu and let the FL reunion with the shifu. It's impossible for the FL to have an HE with ML for all atrocities he did to her.😘

    1. I thought she would end up with her shifu when her husband showed his true colors but that was before the further descent into tragedy... I agree that she shouldn't end up with her husband because he ruined her family after all.

  4. i pretty much know all the plots know so i was watching for the FL, she's very cute and a couple years older than the ML, who would have thought. personally it's too dramatic and out to get the viewers too much that i dont intend to finish it. it's so twisted and i just cant, like if i'm the FL this movie will be over by ep 10 when her family die cause i aint gonna be with the ML after what he did lol

  6. I'm a sucker for sad endings and angst. The Prince can live with guilt and regret for the rest of his life.

  7. I think they should follow the book ending. The ones that are watching are probably the reader of the books. How can she live happily with the Male Lead if he killed off her family??? Maybe a reincarnation happy ending, just like other ancient movies might work if they reincarnate to the modern times after spending the 3 lifetimes together like that one fortune teller said in one of the episodes. Otherwise, in the current lifetime, I can't see how she can be happy especially if she remembers everything. Then again, I stopped watching the series, so I don't care what the ending is actually......the Male lead is very good looking, the main actress acting is off for me....

  8. A Happy ending where the FL stays with the ML does not make sense. Who in their right mind would happily be with the man that killed their family? Unless she loses her memories again, but that would also be a tragic ending in a sense.

  9. Yeah I agree that these two should just separate at the end for each other's sake, and that's the happiest possible ending IMHO. Judging by the upcoming episodes the relationship is becoming increasingly toxic and potentially abusive. ML version of love for FL is built through lies, deceit and murder, he shouldn't get away unpunished.

  11. Well they are sticking to the original ending so I don't get why fans complain.
Second ending is for those who dislike sad endings... I know many people chose not to watch the drama after knowing how it will end. With this second ending produced, it will invite more people to watch the drama.

  12. May i request a HE for her and he can live with guilt forever and ever? Oh my. I haven't watch this series, but i already read the story, so i'm still stick to the novel's ending, but i'm ok with alternative ending.

  13. They should made it look like she dead so the whole world acknowledges it, especially the psychopath hubby regret it and let her be saved and roam her land again freely.

  14. I'm quite anticipating a sad ending. It makes sense within the narrative. I suppose if the ML reflected, regretted and repented, a happy ending could be possible. But, that would mean the FL has a heart of gold.

If anything, they could just do an epilogue where he lives on in despair and regret and pictures how life could've been if he had met her accidentally, fallen in love, and he gained the cp title another way.
They would've married like originally intended with her family, Shifu and Ah Du in attendance and happily smiling at her as she wedded him in complete bliss.

  16. Change upon this drama on one fine afternoon when doing my laundry. ZERO expectation because i had never heard of this drama at all. I just need some noise around me while folding my clothes. BUT THEN... gosh.. fallen deep in love with this drama. cant wait for the new episode so i went on to read the novel. I must said that this is another drama after Ten miles blossom that had better adaption than novel itself.
Drama ver shown alot of affection from crown prince and you realised that he is not that heartless afterall. IF there will be second ending, i would like to see, Crown prince managed to safe Xiao Feng but due to excessive lost of blood it damaged her brain, she become lunatic, forget everything live like a 10 yrs old. He decided to give up everything and move to a place that no one knows them. Living a simple and happy life.. at least xiao feng is happy.

  17. Would it be much if it can have a second happy ending? Really love their chemistry. Watching it still. Just love and hate him and love him still.. hay.. God bless us all!

  18. Second ending is OK. But big NO for Xiao Feng together with the Prince. He is too cruel. He might love her but all of the things that he has done, killing innocent people for throne? He should not be together with her. His greediness exceeding his love. It's really not make sense if Xiao Feng accept all of that. The shi fu or maybe other new male hero are more suitable for her 😂😂😂

  20. In our sympathy and horror at what happened to our sweet, innocent, heroine, we forget that what our hero/villain has done is right in line with what all of the various tribes and kingdoms did to each other. They all believed in extreme loyalty to their own people and had no sympathy for others. First, the reason he helped attack her tribe is because he believed they had murdered the seventh brother. It was revenge perpetrated and planned by the second brother who was really responsible for the murder of the seventh brother. (Now I know why they called the brothers by number..all the names are too similar and confusing.) Anyway, our hero even saw that her tribe had slaves from his people. And they were going to use them as human targets until he suggested bats instead.
So there was plenty of cruelty to go around. He fell in love with her as he was already seeking information for the planned revenge. And I believe he cut off the grandfather's head in a kind of honoring way, to accept responsibility himself and to make sure the grandfather didn't suffer.
None of this would diminish the horror to her when she witnessed it, even had she known the whole plot. And he only felt guilty of allowing her to see it. Otherwise, it was just another day on the job for him. But my point is that this was so common then, and even now, in gangs and in tribal cultures.
Does it make it right? Of course not, but if you look at it in perspective you can see that he is not just evil, but a true product of the prevalent culture.
I am not sure a truly happy ending is possible.

  21. An alternate happier ending is a way to heal for us fans. We have been crying buckets since ep 1 . We deserve to have at least a small respite from the heartaches. We watch to escape reality and our dreary lives. What's the point of watching when we also watch dreary movies? Where do we escape then?

  22. They don’t have to please fans who prefer happier endings. Just stick to the novel and we’re good. If people can’t handle tragic endings they should ready toughen up. It’s a show, not real at all. Enjoy the journey!!
