I don't actually watch the show regularly, but I really wanted to tune in for the final competition which is usually known to be quite epic. And it is, my ears feel blessed.

Hua Chenyu wins most popular song for Qi Tian, a song that he composed and sang for the movie Wu Kong. I'm seeing him on tv for the first time despite his explosive popularity, and it's no wonder he's trending online because the guy has mad skills!

His duet for Light Years Away with G.E.M. was easily my favorite for the night. I'll link it here when it becomes available (Update: added below). G.E.M. originally sang the same song for the Hollywood movie Passengers

In case anyone's interested to watch, you can catch the episode on Youtube. Beginning 18:52, Jessie J, Coco Lee and Kz Tandingan have an impressive sing off.

  2. Well deserved win by Jessie J. I watched this on a weekly basis.
I think Hua ChenYu rehashed some of his old performances and only performed a few new songs. I am waiting for the day where he will perform a song from Jacky Cheung, Eason Chan, etc,.

    1. I have to disagree. Even though Hua ChenYu "rehashed" as you termed it, all those songs become brand new songs. In terms of this particular episode then yes, Jessie J deserve to win because "I Will Always Love You" is too classic but if you're talking about the overall performances of the song, I'd vote Hua ChenYu. The songs he presented (they are all unique in composition and creativity) and his stage presence is too strong. His "Fake Monk" took my breath away. I'm glad though that he got second place otherwise people who don't like him will bash him. As if there aren't enough bashing when he won in episode 4, putting a stop to Jessie J's consecutive winnings.

  3. It is from Singer 2018 that I started to Hua. In Singer 2018, you can only sing 2 orginal song that you compose which all singers did.But even then he slightly rearranged the song I don't care. Then the other song Flammable and Explosive, he changed to perform this song because one of the lyricist died so he sing this song to contribute her death. Other than that, all the other songs he performed are newly rearranged and hasn't been performed before. So I don't get your point about most songs are rehash. Plus he has rearranged and compose many other songs outside of shows. His fans would often request song for him to rearrange and sing at the concert. His reartangement is great but his composed songs are great too. Currently waiting exciting for his latest album.
