The Eternal Love (2017)

The Eternal Love web series
The Eternal Love 双世宠妃 is a 24-episode Chinese web series adapted from the novel Hilarious Pampered Consort: Lord I Will Wait for Your Divorce written by Fan Que 梵缺. I don't usually take the time to check out every random web drama since there are lots given that it's a proliferating enterprise and all, but you guys, it's Yueqi from Princess Agents who has upgraded from being Yuwen Yue's trusty sidekick to become royalty.

What kind of story is this you ask? I'm curious too because the show's off the wall tone suggests a palace drama with loads of fun and hilarity. An unforeseen event changes the life of Qu Taner after a failed suicide attempt over her love for Da Wang Ye (1st Royal Highness). She develops a dual personality and becomes someone gentle like her usual self at times and then wild and uninhibited in an instant. Duty forces her to marry Ba Wang Ye (8th Royal Highness), thus beginning an unexpected romance between two people thrown together by circumstance, yet there's also the side to her that has lingering feelings for Da Wang Ye that would plot to help him take the throne.

I think it's evident that the scale and visuals in this are way below what we'd gotten used to in larger productions. It also sounds like a cliche love triangle in the making but throw in two personalities in one super quirky heroine and it actually sounds interesting enough to be worth a shot. Besides, it made it into the top ten dramas last week. It stars Liang Jie, Xing Zhao Lin (Princess Agents), Wang Rui Chang, Sun Rui Qi, Sun Yi Ning and Zhong Qi

Release Date: July 10, 2017 Tencent QQ (two episodes every Monday & Tuesday 8 p.m.). English subs on Viki.

  1. I am watching it and I find it unexpectedly good. It is quite original as it is the first time I find a drama with a character with two souls who have to share the same body. I'll recommend it for people woman wants a light hearted and funny drama

  2. Do you know how they managed to go through with the time travel / transmigrate plot device when it's banned in China?

    1. It looks like the ban its only for tv shows and movies. This is a web series, so it's "allowed", probably because it doesn't have as many viewers as tv shows and movies...

  4. Love the drama. Watch couple times already since there is nothing out their to watch. The chemistry of the leads is pretty good. Good acting by both leads.

  5. I am liking this. It is similar to Go Princess Go, but it has more romance and less comedy.

  9. Was watching this drama because the actor who played Yueqi (Princess Agents) was starring and I had yet to get over Yueqi's death xD Didn't expect much from the drama but it is surprisingly really good. It's short and sweet, unlike many dramas out there. My only criticism would be that the plot is kind of hard to figure out in the beginning episodes, but a few episodes later it's more clear. The drama is still being posted on YouTube though so I haven't seen the ending yet.

  10. This is an excellent drama. It doesn't have that annoying looong drawn out storytelling style most dramas have when there is palace intrigue. The one doing dirt ALWAYS gets
caught very quickly. There is no annoying drawn out misunderstandings. They're resolved quickly. The love triangle is satisfying in that the lead character quickly comes to love her Prince and the other person in the body gets over the prince she
wanted when she finds out he's a jerk. The writing is very satisfying like that. The composition is wonderful. Chinese dramas always have the best costumes and sets.
The *ONE* problem I always have with these people is MATCH THE HAIR BETTER!!! My goodness!!! I order hair from China that's better than that! You live there!!! Down the street! You have access to better hair than I do so get it together. Sheesh 1=Jet Black 1B= Off Black 2=Dark Brown... not that hard. Hire a black girl and get it right. Ijs

  11. I am loving ittttt! It's got that spark to it that other novel adaptations and web series sometimes lack. It's exciting in the same sense as "Go go Princess" if you watched that too :)
