Zhao Li Ying jumps to her next historical drama after Princess Agents, opposite Feng Shaofeng

She will be headlining the drama adaptation of the novel Do You Know? It Ought To Be a Red Flower Amongst The Leaves 知否知否应是绿肥红瘦 aka Legend of the Concubine's Daughter Ming Lan 庶女明兰传 as the titular heroine Ming Lan.

She is the unfavored daughter of a household unloved by her father and despised by her stepmother and siblings, yet she finds a way to overcome the odds. I can definitely see Zanilia Zhao Li Ying in the role of the empowered female that is clever yet adorable. In fact, she has done it before in Legend of Lu Zhen which is the drama that helped the actress gain mainstream fame.

Update 6/20: You may have spotted Zanilia Zhao and Feng Shaofeng taking the stage together recently as both are busy promoting their upcoming movie Monkey King 3 (pictured above). If you like what you are seeing, then it'll be welcome news to find that Feng Shaofeng has recently confirmed as the leading man Gu Tingye.

This upcoming 70-episode drama is produced by Daylight Entertainment which also produced the historical epic Nirvana in Fire. It's a drama that I only consider to be the bestest c-drama ever made, and I'm already excited at the possibilities. Filming is expected to begin in August.

  5. Great news! I love that she specialises in so many strong women roles. Makes me so proud to be a fan :-D

The role sounds a tiny bit like her role in Cuo Dian Yuan Yang as well.
