Poison Genius Consort gets a drama adaptation

Shanghai Star 48 Culture and Media Group, which is the management company behind the Chinese girl group SNH48 is working on a novel to drama adaptation of Poison Genius Consort under the title Legend of Yun Xi 芸汐传. I can't tell you why they had to go from a name that is catchy and original to a generic Legend of Something, but it is what it is.

Filming is slated to begin July 10 in Hengdian and stars Ju Jing Yi (Novoland), Zhang Zhe Han (Zhao Ge) and Mi Re (Demon Girl). I'd take this information with a grain of salt as nothing official has been announced. The last communication was over a year ago via a weibo post asking fans to decide which SNH48 member they wanted to see in the titular role of Han Yun Xi.

I think it's safe to say that SNH48's Ju Jing Yi has probably got this one in the bag as one of the group's most popular members. There were even pictures of a supposed photoshoot for the drama poster but let's just wait for more updates.

In the meantime, I do like the leading men though both of them being Yu Zheng's artists scares me a little as to the degree of Yu Zheng's possible involvement. As for Ju Jing Yi, I haven't seen enough of her work to have any opinion but she does have that aura that costume dramas love. In fact, she was also dubbed as a rare beauty only seen once in 4000 years.

The story revolves around a woman particularly gifted in the field of medicine who uses it to survive in the palace after marrying into the imperial family. A novel reader can probably give you a more insightful synopsis and you can actually head over to Volare Novels as they have provided english translations for Poison Genius Consort

  4. I love this story. I am excited. Princess Agents looks like it still keeps the transmigration element, unlike this ones description. Could be wrong though. Can't wait.
