Huang Zitao, Janice Wu up for the musical drama The Brightest Star in the Night Sky

The Brightest Star in the Night Sky

If idols jumping the line to headline dramas is something that bothers you, then this one might not be so bad because it literally revolves around the music industry and who better to play that than an idol who's formerly a member of the k-pop group EO.

The Brightest Star in the Night Sky 夜空中最亮的星 is an upcoming Chinese drama that has confirmed Huang Zitao (A Chinese Odyssey) as the main lead. Janice Wu (Fighter of the Destiny) is in talks to star as the heroine though she hasn't officially signed.

The story revolves around a young girl joining an entertainment agency to pursue her dreams and she meets and falls in love with the CEO. The premise sounds an awful lot like My Lovely Girl starring Rain and Krystal Jung, but there's no indication that it's a remake. Filming is expected to begin June 2017 with shooting locations in Beijing and LA.

  1. It's going to be weird if Tao plays the older CEO because he is younger than Janice lol.

  2. Actually this Drama is not a remake, it's a new drama, produced by Huang Zitao and it's a musical drama that will feature his music, he's composing 20-30 songs for this. Rumor as it that it will air on Hunan TV. I'm excited about it. I think this could be China's first musical drama?
