My break from dramas has turned my attention to other forms of entertainment, which leads me to this week's second variety feature. Keep Running 奔跑吧, formerly known as Running Man China will be returning for its fifth season this month.
If the name change was done to disassociate itself from its Korean counterpart, then it hardly seems effective since we all know that the show is adapted from the long-running Korean Running Man which in spite of the recent controversies remains to be a well-loved pop culture icon.
The premise follows an outdoor reality tv concept involving the show's runners as they tackle obstacles to complete missions. It sounds cut and dry when I'm the one doing the explaining but trust me, I'm a huge fan of Running Man and if the Chinese version keeps to roughly the same format, then it's bound to be good.
The show's lineup includes Deng Chao (Shadow), Li Chen, Chen He (Legend of Ace), Ryan Zheng (Wong Fei Hung), Wang Cho Lam, Luhan (Fighter of the Destiny) and most recently added Dilraba Dilmurat (Pretty Li Hui Zhen) to replace Angelababy (General and I) while she's on maternity leave.
