Jane Zhang has done it again with Battle Field, the English track for the The Great Wall, a science fiction movie gearing for its theatrical release on December 16, 2016.
Similar to Dust My Shoulders Off, Zhang's most recent MV is another collaboration with Timabaland. The entire song, from its momentous buildup down to the lyrics is fitting for an epic war theme. An earlier track titled Bridge of Fate was also released featuring a powerful duet between Leehom Wang and Tan Wei Wei that mixes hints of Chinese opera with pop rock.
For some reason, the movie reminds me of Titanic but instead of a ship there's a wall, instead of Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet, there's Matt Damon, Andy Lau and literally the best and brightest of c-entertainment and instead of Celine Dion, there's Jane Zhang. It is a production innately Chinese but packaged for an international stage, and I hope that it turns out to be great not only in name but in actuality.
