General and I (2017)

Angelababy and Wallace Chung in 2017 c-drama General and I

Based on Feng Nong's 风弄 novel that has been translated to A Lonesome Fragrance Waiting To Be Appreciated, General and I 孤芳不自赏 tells the story of a brilliant warrior who has never lost a battle and his muse, a woman of unparalleled intelligence earning the title female Zhu Ge (a genius strategist during the Three Kingdoms era).

Sadly, the star-crossed lovers' disparate positions put them at odds with each other at a time when the four warring states of Jin, Yan, Liang and Qin are in constant turmoil.

The cast is led by Wallace Chung, Angelababy, Sun Yi Zhou, Gan Ting Ting, Yu Bo, Qi Hang and Mai Di Na (Ice Fantasy). I have always liked Wallace Chung since his younger days and call me impressed that he is still snagging commendable roles at the age of 41. Angelababy plays his love interest though I hope it's not a repeat of Song in the Clouds, which despite the hype fell very flat.

Release Date: Jan 2, 2017 on Hunan TV (eng subs on Dramafever)

  1. A Lonsome Fragrance Waiting to be Appreciated- the same as the movie in mandarin. You can read the English translation at Moonbunny Cafe ;) hope this helps.

  2. I hope the adaptation is as good as the novel. I know they made some changes with the storyline for the drama but I'm crossing my fingers that it won't ruin the novel.
